Supplies
Step 1
The first thing that I did was make up half of my pattern for the emblem. I did this so I could simply fold my blue fabric in half, then line my pattern up with the fold, and know that when it was cut out it would be perfectly symmetrical.
Step 2
Once the blue was cut out, I repeated the process on my white fabric, but for the white I measured out how big of a border I wanted around the heart, knowing that it would overlap onto the blue a bit. I also gave myself some extra so that I could hem the edge. I also cut the symbols out of the white fabric white it was still folded.
After everything was sewn together, I stitched the emblem to the dress.

Finishing
Taking the backside (the matte side) of my ribbon, I ran two pieces from either side of the heart, down almost to the bottom, and then attached a horizontal piece to connect them.
