This project cost me about $4
I used Jigget's Papyrus mask tutorial as a guideline, but I didn't have all of the stuff they used, so I made it more budget friendly.
Supplies
Step 1
I started off with this plastic helmet that I had gotten around Halloween time at my local Dollar tree. I took off the face guard and cut the back down a bit so that it didn't flair out.
Step 2
Next I started on the face portion, first I drew out where the eyes and nose needed to be, then I took my box cutter and cut them out, I also cut out a bit on the mouth for more ventilation.
Step 3
Once that was finished I had to start on the balaclava. I just used a simple pattern I found online, I just didn't cut eye holes. Once it was sewn up, I glued the seam on the front of the balaclava down the middle of the mask.
Step 4
After the seam was glued down the middle I flipped the balaclava back over the mask and glued a few parts on the face down so that the fabric was stretched tight over the mask. Next I marked out where the eyes and nose were and cut those out, making sure to leave enough fabric to fold it over inside the mask to glue it down. At this point I also attached the plastic helmet to the balaclava after putting the mask on a wig head....Now I put the plastic OVER the balaclava but honestly I should have put it UNDER it, and I highly recommend you do that. I thought I could blend the colors and it would be fine, but in the end it still kinda looks like a helmet, so learn from my mistakes.
Step 5
Next it was time to add the foam to build the face. I actually extended the foam jaw past the mask to make it face look longer, in the end you'll just have to build the foam up little by little to fit right to your face and how you want it.
Step 6
Once the foam was glued in place and heat set (You can also seal your foam with glue or mod podge) it was time to paint!
Finishing
After everything was painted, I gave it a quick spray with my sealer and glued the same sheer black fabric that I used for the Sans mask on the inside of the eyes and nose, and then it was done!
