This project cost about $15
I was inspired by the Papyrus jacket by this etsy seller, but I didn't have the $70 + $12 shipping to spend on a hoodie lol.
Supplies
Step 1
So the first thing that I did was measured out how big of pieces of my black fabric that I needed for the stomach area and the arms, this will differ on your hoodie size, but I wanted to make sure the hoodie wouldn't get taken in when I sewed on the fabric. Now the black fabric will be the negative parts, so later on I'll go back in with my white fabric paint and paint the spine and arm bones in(You can also make the bones with white fabric if you want). I made sure to cut the fabric where the pockets were so he could still get to those, and I just hemmed the fabric down around them. I also folded the fabric over the bottom of the hoodie so that there wasn't a white line. For the arms I didn't go all the way down, simply because the bottom of the sleeves are stretchy, and I didn't want to take away the stretch by sewing onto it, so later I will go over those parts with black fabric paint.
Step 2
I then took small strips of my yellow fabric and ran them along the tops of the black areas. I also made the scarf from a long strip of the red fabric that I hemmed on both sides, I pointed the ends, and then I just tacked it to the hoodie neck in a few places. I didn't want to sew it all the way around the neck hole, because then it was hard to get your head in and out of the hoodie. I tacked the scarf in place on the very front, a little bit on both sides, and a bit on the back. For the back I made one end shorter, and pleated each end a bit before tacking them down, this way the ends wouldn't flip over to the wrong side.
finishing
After that I just added the emblems to the chest with my red and black fabric, then painted on the bones to the front and backs of the arms, as well as the front and back of the stomach. I also brought some black fabric paint down into the pockets just so there wasn't big white lines in the black.
